Course Description:

Social Stories to Support All Children "Make and Take"

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to use Social Stories to support children’s understanding of a routine or event. Participants will learn how to make their own Social Stories and practice using them.

Participants will:

  •  Discuss Social Stories and their benefits, especially for children with Autism, ADHD/ADD, and Intellectual Disabilities.
  • Learn how to use Social Stories at home and at school to foster the understanding of events, expectations, and routines.
  •  Learn how to choose appropriate visuals for Social Stories and resources available for creating your own.
  •  Learn how to write and use Social Stories that can support children with and without disabilities.
  •  Make 3 social stories: one on self-help, one on a school or home routine, and one on friendship.

Please bring pictures of your child’s classroom or home routine to personalize the social story.
