Course Description: 

Nurturing Parent & Child Development

This training will focus on child development with an emphasis on social-emotional development. Social-Emotional development occurs in the context of relationships; therefore, parents and caregivers play an important role. This session will blend science of child development with practical tips for parents and caregivers.

Learners will:

  • Understand the domains of child development and the typical stages of development
  • Understand the importance of the parent/caregiver’s role in child development and social emotional development
  • Learn at least three practical skills that can be applied to improve child development
  • Learn how to improve attachment relationship through the Circle of Security framework

Who should attend: All staff of family resource center (FRCs), child abuse prevention councils (CAPCs), and other child and family-serving organizations.
