Course Description:

CANS: Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths for Children: Comprehensive 5+

The Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) standardized assessment can be used to assist in treatment planning (including for individualized education plans, permanency, etc.). It informs the intensity of service decision making and can be used to monitor outcomes. The CANS operates from a shared vision and philosophy consistent with the system of care. It is a consensus based approach used to identify strengths and needs in order to move forward in a transformative way with children and their families, programs, and systems. This lively 1-day training will provide you with the knowledge needed to become certified and to successfully administer the tool. Targeted Audience: All mental health providers (clinicians, home visitors, clinical supervisors, program managers) who serve children and adolescents 6 through 18 years of age within the Santa Clara County Mental Health System.
