Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder in Young Children

Dr. Roxanne Almas will lead us in an engaging presentation on how the definition of Autism Sepcrum Disorder has changed since the release of the DSM-V and will discuss approaches to diagnoses, services, therapies, and interventions that will be helpful for parents and providers alike! She will focus on preschool-age children and will present through the lens of Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP). Through interactive dialogue, clinical vignettes and videos, participants will leave with a better understanding of how Autism Spectrum Disorder is diagnosed in young children, various approaches to treatment, examples of successful interventions, and therapies. Participants will also gain an understanding of how Autism Spectrum Disorder impacts the family as a whole and will learn about the supports available to help.
