Supporting Young Children and Families in the Return to Early Learning
Young children, families, and professionals in early education settings are all feeling the particular stress of “returning to normal” after the past year of virtual and hybrid learning formats. Many have also experienced loss and upheaval during this period. Children, families, and providers might have mixed feelings about returning to in-person learning. Children may need extra academic support. Many will also need particular sensitivity and attention to their social-emotional state. Learn how Brazelton Touchpoints can help providers support young children returning to early learning settings and partner with families in their children’s learning and development.
In this session, participants will:
- Consider how young children and their families might have been impacted during the past year in subtle or invisible ways
- Learn strategies to partner with families to better understand parents’ and children’s strengths and needs for the transition
- Explore resources to boost their own and their staff’s capacity to support children and families as they return to early learning settings
