Course Description:

Behaviors that Challenge Pilot Course

As a benefit of being a member of BTC’s learning community , BTC is extending an invitation to enroll in a pilot of our newest course, Behaviors that Challenge, that we have developed. The overarching goal of this new course is to reduce rates of preschool suspension and expulsion due to racial disparities, and to improve academic and developmental outcomes for children. To do this, the course focuses on strengthening the skills of early childhood professionals to understand and respond effectively to behaviors that challenge them in a classroom environment.

To effectively design the course, it is critical to have a diverse representation of early childhood professionals (e.g. teachers, assistant teachers, directors) to provide input on the effectiveness of the course in supporting professionals to effectively respond to challenging behaviors.

Participation Requirements

This course has 3 modules; all participants must sign up and attend Module 1 to participate in Module 2 and/or Module 3. Participants have the choice of signing up for both Module 2 and Module 3 or choose between the two.

Participants who enroll in one or more of the modules will be asked to spend up to a total of 5.33 hours per module doing the following:

View asynchronous presentation recordings and complete asynchronous assignments totaling approximately 1 hours per module
Participate in 2 live sessions per module. Each live session will meet from 6:00-8:00 pm ET on Tuesdays and Thursdays in April. The schedule is as follows:

o  Module1 (required) – April 5 & 7

o  Module 2 – April 12 & 14

o  Module 3 – April 19 & 21

Provide input and feedback on course design and resources by responding to surveys and providing verbal feedback at the end of the course.

Participation Benefits

All training participants will receive a training certificate upon completion of all module content, attendance at live sessions for the module and completion of surveys

As a thank you for participants’ time, each participant who completes a module and responds to the survey will be entered in a drawing to one of the following prizes:

·      $50 Amazon Gift Card (2 available)

·      Free registration (up to a $150 value) to a BTC workshop series (3 available)
