Working with Families with Children with Special Needs

This follow-up to the PSNTS-Basic session will emphasize skills development in FIRST 5 partners and helpful knowledge areas for them to share with parents.  Included will be how to broach the subject of a possible special need in a young child and parental reactions to such discussions; natural supports; development of child profiles; advocacy skills; and inclusion of the child and family in the wider community.
The goal of this training is to provide FIRST 5 partners with information, tools and strategies to ensure you feel more comfortable and confident in supporting families of children with various types of special needs.  You are highly encouraged to bring your questions as we wish to address your most pressing needs and concerns and make this session as interactive as possible.
