Partner Special Needs Workshop - Intermediate

Session #1: Working with Families with Children with Special Needs, Pt II (November 7, 2014)

This presentation covers how to successfully collaborate with families that have a child with a known or suspected disability; understand parental grief; make use of community resources and PHP services; consider and ensure inclusion; and work with parents who may have their own disabilities. The focus is fostering resiliency in these families and their young children.

Session #2: Creating the Future of Person Centered Planning (January 6, 2015)

This session will share tools and approaches that are used in person centered practices. Person centered planning is a process for continual listening and learning, focusing on what is important to someone now and in the future, and acting upon this in alliance with their family and friends. Using a multimedia approach, we will define the concepts of person centered and explore the development of 1 Page Profiles, a life-transforming document.

Participants are expected to attend both sessions to earn the associated certificate of completion.
