Falling in Love: Neuroscience, Attachment, and Play
Falling in Love: Neuroscience, Attachment, and Play
The healing power of play is evidenced by its ability to regulate right brain limbic processes enhancing the “felt experience” of connectedness between child and parent. The right mode processing is holistic, nonlinear, and nonverbal. Resonance circuitry connects the child and parent body to body and heart to heart. Parent-child play therapy weaves together play therapy and infant early childhood mental health practice. It draws from attachment theory and neuroscience to help the parent and child establish crucial connections that will last a lifetime. This training will provide an overview of the neuroscience of attachment. It will also be fun and interactive. Participants must come prepared to play as there will be hands-on activities and experiential exercises. There will be a combination of lecture, case examples, video, and experientials. Participants will leave with an array of play therapy techniques to incorporate into their clinical practice
