Course Description:

Assessments for ASD in the Very Young Child and an Update on DSM Changes

This intermediate/advanced training will help participants develop an understanding of autism spectrum disorders, especially in terms of the assessment and diagnostic tools needed to work with children through adolescents who are exhibiting signs of autism. We will review evidence-based knowledge and current research in the field, address the changes in the DSM V, examine some of the most common treatment approaches, and discuss the general principles of an integrated care model used in various health, mental health and community settings.
The goal of this workshop is to provide FIRST 5 partners with practical information, strategies and resources to support families who have young children with suspected or identified autism spectrum disorders. Please bring your questions and concerns so we can make this session interactive and properly focused on your immediate needs. Certificates are provided, and CEUs will be available.

Additional Information:

Professionals outside the FIRST 5 network and parents/caregivers are also welcome.
